Tax-return form (German income-tax form for rental income). Tax-return export (income from renting and leasing) is part of the German income-tax return. It exists only in the German tax system.
In your country, rental income is reported on a different national tax form — please consult your local tax authority or adviser.
Rentprime is also available for United Kingdom with localised templates and billing logic. The relevant local regulations are pre-configured — you don’t need this German-specific topic.

Prepare Tax-return form optimally — what landlords need to know about the tax return
The Tax-return form is part of the annual income tax return and records income from letting and leasing per §21 EStG. It must also be completed if the rental produces a loss — because only then can you offset the loss with other types of income and save taxes.
Typical income-related expenses you can claim in Tax-return form: maintenance expenses (repairs under €4,000, immediately deductible), construction expenses (spread over the useful life as depreciation), mortgage interest (not principal!), property management, insurance, waste collection (insofar as not allocatable), property tax (insofar as not passed on), and renovations before rental.
Important: maintenance vs. capital expenditure. Repairs up to 4.000 € net per measure are immediately deductible. Value-enhancing works such as new bathrooms or roofs count as capital expenditure and are depreciated over their useful life (typically 50 years for residential buildings). Rentprime helps you classify this correctly, but the final decision is made by your tax adviser.
Practical tip: If you own multiple properties, an early tax-advisor appointment in January/February pays off. Bring the Rentprime export (CSV + PDF + receipts attached), save yourself 3-4 hours of consulting fees.
